Just installed 2.4.3 on old computer….nothing I do works....now what?

I have a cable modem/router gateway and am trying to hook up a pfSence router built out of an old computer for more versatility and privacy issues. I just installed v. 2.4.3 on the computer and nothing I do with the gateway works. I can't even bring up the pfSense router on a web-browser. I've watched every video that I could find. What settings on either router do I need to change to get this to work? Here are my specs:

WAN - Dynamic IP Address
Subnet Mask - 255.255.248.0
Gateway - 24.253.200.1
LAN - 192.168.0.1

Intel DH61WW motherboard & Intel i5-2400 CPU @ 3.1 GHz - 8 GB RAM - 250 GB HDD

pfSense version: 2.4.3 AMD64
WAN = bce0 - 192.168.0.2/24
LAN =bce1 - 192.168.1.1/24Any help is appreciated. I've been working on this for over a month now.

your copy of pfsense is all default right?
Can you put your cable modem in bridge mode and try it that way?? Unless your using the phone capabilities of the modem that is..

How are you testing? A client connected to the pfSense LAN NIC directly? Is it getting an IP via DHCP?
Can you see the LAN interface shown as 'UP' from the console?
You should be able to hit the GUI given you don't a subnet conflict from what we can see.
That wifi card will not work in pfSense.

Recently a rash of "oh my assumed port assigned was wrong!" after looking for days for complicated causes… really a waste of time, so make sure of this, don't make any assumptions.
To start, I would, from the PF console: ping 192.168.0.1 (proves WAN connect correct and communicating).
Look at the RJ45s LED pretty please, if you have no good LED (Link DOWN, layer-2 down) nothing else is going to work. This typically signals a bad cable, cable plugged incorrectly, suspect in-wall wirings etc.

Thanks for the replies. Bad cable on LAN. It was showing connected, but when I connected the cable directly to my desktop, it was not working properly. ::)

Why, because the wireless support in FreeBSD is crap. Get an external access point and don't bother with internal wireless.

The best you can do in FreeBSD/pfSense currently is 802.11N. If you want to try I recommend an older Atheros card:
