How to disable non-english categories?
-
How can I prevent myself from having to sift through the non-english content?
When I read new postings they show up and I can't read them so why must I see them?
-
Click on Categories. Click on International Support. Set to "Ignoring" at the bottom.
-
A+ forum support. You are a genius. Thanks
-
@Derelict I went to the International Support page and set it to "Ignoring" a couple days ago, but for some reason the "Threads with Recent Replies" on the home page still shows posts in other languages.
Or is the "Ignoring" only applying to the subcategory pages?
-
@lburr What URL specifically are you referring to?
-
Think he means here:-
https://forum.netgate.com/category/67/pfsense-international-support
But you still see the Threads with Recent Replies from the pfSense International Support at the bottom when viewing the main page.
-
This URL : https://forum.netgate.com
Bottom of the page :
I not really looking at these 10 latest replies. I'm using the new message indicator :
and the Notification bell :
These two do the job for me. -
Yeah doesn't look like that filters the categories.
-
No it doesn't which seems odd. I really see no reason for that recent posts thread on the bottom, I might end up just removing it with some browser code. Like I did with the whole international category after setting it to ignored so it doesn't show up in my unread listing.
See no int cat section ;) Which is should be easy check mark for the user vs having to hide the element with their browser tools
But if your going to have it, and user sets specific categories to be ignored then it should filter that list..

Hey we non-US living people are humans, too :p
But I agree, the "threads with recent replies" section is not needed IMHO, but that might just be my personal opinion.

It's not.
Unless you are me, include me in that list as well. -
Yes, that section ignores the filters but the "recent" link in the top navbar (the clock icon) shows recent threads and respects categories set to ignore.

Perfect justification to ditch "Threads with Recent Replies" ?!

I kind of like having it there so people visiting the forum main page can get a sense of how active the forum is. If you are looking for a specific category or post there isn't anything you'd need down that low on the front page anyhow.

Agreed - but if I can not read the language I see no point to see it.. It just reminds me of how inept I am in that I can barely read and write one language ;)
-
@jimp I like it for the same reason, just would be nice to have it hide the international category.
If it can't, I'd actually prefer it as is & I'll just skip over some posts.

I can do two!

Do you have to do this each time you log in or is it set permanently? Seems to me there should be someway for us, USA users, to block the International users posts like the old system did.

If you set the international category to ignore, it is permanent.
