I am fairly new to things and find that the best way to learn is by doing. I have pfsense up and running and am going through and trying new things. One thing has me stumped, I have my LAN network set on 10.9.8.1/24 and it works I access PFSENSE at 10.9.8.1 while on LAN.

What does not work is being able to access my modem (10.0.0.1) when I enter that address it also routes to the PFSENSE login, I can access the modem if I connect directly to it. I know I am missing something dumb but have yet to figure it out any ideas?

What address does the pfSense WAN interface have? It sounds like you might be using that incorrectly.

If it's a PPP connection you might need this:

I found the problem, I had my VPN set up at 10.0.0.0/24
