Hello, I would like to start preparing to 2.5, at the moment I have a Intel DQ77KB
with a Intel G2030 3Ghz. Can I change only the CPU? what would you guys recommend? I would like it to be compatible with the Intel vPro also, that would be a good bonus to the upgrade.

      Thank You

You can get an Ivybridge i5 which will have AES-NI and uses socket 1155.

That board seems to support a few:

Though it looks like only the low power variants.

I've never used it personally though.

Any disadvantage on those low powered I5? That any one knows off?

            Compared with what?

They are slightly less powerful so you'll see marginally less maximum thoughput. Though they are probably still far an excess of what is required for most WAN connections.

Biggest disadvantage is probably that they're less common and hence more expensive than the standard i5s.

@stephenw10 in my country we at the moment I have 200Mb connection, but we already have 1Gb connection, but it's still a bit expensive. but I would like to make that a possibility. At the moment i have a G2030 that gives me 3Ghz of processing power.

              I'll analise the options.

              thank you

Any of the i5s on that list will easily pass 1Gbps. Of firewall/NAT at least.
