Obtaining update status checking never stops

2.3.4-RELEASE-p1 (i386) built on Fri Jul 14 14:53:03 CDT 2017 FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE-p19 Obtaining update status checking never stops. I am unable to use the dashboard!

First, go into System > Update, Update Settings tab, change to a development branch, save, then change it back to the stable branch and save again.
Then connect via ssh or the console, go to the console and run:

# pkg-static update -f
# pkg-static clean -ya; pkg-static install -yf pkg pfSense-repo pfSense-upgrade
# pfSense-upgrade -d

@jimp Thank you for the reply. I am unable to do anything in the user interface. No drop downs at all so unable to change the setting.

Even so, you're on an outdated version, you should update ASAP.

If it runs 2.3.4, it should also run 2.3.5-p2 which is the most recent supported version for i386 hardware.
