I have not found an answer to my problem changing delay value.

      2.4.3-RELEASE-p1 (amd64)
built on Thu May 10 15:02:52 CDT 2018
      FreeBSD 11.1-RELEASE-p10

If I change /boot/loader.conf it will boot with the new value but on the next boot it is set back to "3". This is the expected action.

If I add an entry in /boot/loader.conf.local it will boot with the new value but on the next boot it reverts back to "3". The entry put in the file has been deleted by the boot. I don't believe this should happen.

I tried to add various things in the "tuneables" with no luck. I want to add afew seconds to the delay time.

      Anybody have any ideas?

That is the correct procedure, but there was a bug, which has been fixed for the next release.
