        Given that it took until Squid 4.1 for it to be considered released for production use, and that the FreeBSD ports tree still has 4.x marked as squid-devel, I still have doubts about it being ready.

              That change didn't make the quarterly ports branch (missed it by a few days), so there isn't a guarantee that it will make it in the next release. Unless it requires little to no configuration modifications, it may have to wait until after the release.

                    Will what be in 2.4.4? Squid 4.x? Unlikely.
                    3.5.28 will probably make it in eventually, but it's not in FreeBSD ports yet.
