Intel I219-V not detected
-
I am making the switch to PFSenese and the mobo I bought has two nics, one of which is an Intel I219-v. The other nic works fine but PFSense does not see the 219. Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

I have the gigabyte z370n wifi and it has these WGI211AT PCIe, WGI219V PHY.
Everything is Working ok here. Pfsense 2.4.3_1.

Do you see anything in the boot log showing an error from the driver?
Do you see the un-attached device in the output of
pciconf -lv
at the command line?Steve
-
I am quiet a New ie and would be happy to help you but could you explain on how i can get these logs and files you requested? Thx
-
You can get both from The Diagnostics > Command Prompt screen.
In the execute command field enter and execute:
dmesg
As long as it's not long after boot the output from that will contain the boot log including the NIC driver output. In the same field execute:
pciconfig -lv
That will show you all the detected PCI devices in the system. Things that have no driver attached are shown as 'none'. If you have a 'none' device that is class network it's probably that NIC and driver is failing to attach for some reason. Hopefully the boot logs should give us a clue. However if it's not there at all then the driver cannot attach to a device that isn't even listed.Steve

Ah sorry I confused there. That output from the OP might show why his NIC is not detected.
It looks fine for you there. The Intel wifi might be supported in 2.4.4 snapshots. It looks to be in FreeBSD 11.2. But there are numerous reports of it not working well. And some of it working OK:
https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/intel-8265-8275-driver.62905/post-392635
It won't work in AC node though and I don't think it can be an access point (no hostap mode).Steve

@stephenw10 I just updated to the latest snapshot and its working fine. So it must be something with the stable release.
