pfSense Image for Firebox X700!
-
Hi all,
Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to upload an image (Just a copy via DD will be fine) of pfSense (latest x32 version 2.3.5) configured with the Port 0 and Port 1 by default from their Watchguard Firebox x700? - My serial port has had it unfortunately so I can't get past the configuration screen after installing a fresh pfSense onto a Drive.
I know there's an older copy that a member kindly shared in Dropbox, however it's not the more recent x32 2.3.5 version - when when I try and install it, then upgrade it to the last 32bit version (via the web console) the configuration is lost and presumably resets back to defaults which obviously is no good for me because my serial port's broken.
Hard Drive is 32gb so anything less than that (a 4 or 8gb image) should be fine.
Thanks in advance to anyone out there who may be able to help!

Heads up to anyone viewing this who know's the inner workings of pfSense, I'd also be open to installing it, and then manually setting/configuring the required files on the actual hard drive (from another computer) so that eth1 works as a DHCP server so I can then SSH in to configure the rest???
Any thoughts if this would this be possible?

Sure you can do that as long as you attach the drive to something that can read/write UFS.
Are you actually using a 32GB PATA driver or a CF card?
If you happen to have another machine with a Realtek NIC you could install on that and then move the drive.

Using a 32GB SSD with a SATA to IDE converter - It's worked fine before, just never been able to upgrade it.
I don't have any other machines with Realtek NIC's - Could I configure it in Virtualbox somehow with the real drive mounted in? - This is how I actually originally installed the OS to the drive, then I put it back in the Firebox before entering the config screen.

You probably could. You don't need to have Realtek NICs it would just be convenient.
Just edit the config file and shut down from whatever you have. As long as it next boots up with the NICs configured as re0, re1 etc it should boot OK in the x700.
You might also consider it time to upgrade. Those original X-Core boxes are fairly ancient.

Yeah - you're spot on the money, just one of these things that's laying around so I figure it can go in the workshop until it dies... I'll post back shortly with an update
