Thanks for the fast response ivor. If I was to fashion a wall mount (e.g. velcro or 'all round band') would this impair the thermal design of the unit at all, or is it safe to mount vertically with something stuck on the bottom? I ask as I know the old APU units were cooled by the bottom of the case!
Thanks,

SG-3100's base is actually part of the cooler, similar as with APU's. You could velcro base but I imagine that front plastic cover is better spot for velcro. We may offer SG-3100 wall mount if there's enough interest though. You have been first to ask so far.

I was actually considering this as well and it may actually be fairly easy to design a wall mount. The four feet are held on with philips screws. If you make a plate with bump outs that line up, you could mount to that while maintaining an air gap around the base. And as a bonus, if your mount plate is also metal it might actually add to the heat sinking capabilities.

Can someone tell me why none of the pfSense products are wall mountable? I'm confused.

As said above, if there's enough of interest we may offer wall mount options for SG-3100.

I bought one of these and it fits the sg-3100 perfectly.

Another vote for a wall mount option.
Of the 10 SG-3100s we have deployed 7 of those would have been good to have a wall mount option.

It's not from Netgate, and we don't officially endorse it in any way, but if you have (or have access to) a 3D printer, this is also an option: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2864343
