Is anyone using the TINC package in a production setting?
-
We have seen some customers using it and I'm aware of any issues with it.
However I have never deployed it myself and I don't think anyone else here (at Netgate) has so I would have to say it's not well tested. Not compared with other packages at least.

It's a shame it's not more heavily supported. Making it part of the core would be awesome! Seems like mesh based VPN routing would be a great feature to add to pfS.

I have often thought that. I think the general feeling here is that's it's not been proven sufficiently secure to include.
It clearly has fans though, someone took the time to port it to the new package system.
The best thing to do to support it is to run it and file bugs if/when you find them.Steve

Unfortunately I can't find any documentation for the package. I've played with it a bit, but haven't had much luck.

Yes, THAT is the "problem"
and there are a few "quirks" that is not "true" to the way tinc actually operates, like the forcing of an address in the host configuration, even though it's a host that is not going to be connected to and would be a dynamic IP host.
