      Hello,

Does the SG3100 support LAGG/LACP today or will it be supported once 2.4.4 is released like for the XG7100?

Assuming it is supported, or after it will be supported; can I connect / does it make any sense to connect 3 or all 4 LAN ports to a gigbit managed switch? How many does it make sense to connect?
I know that the 4 LAN ports are connected to a 2.5Gb switch, and the purpose is to make use of "all that 2.5Gb bandwith", but at the same time expanding the switch to as many ports as possible (thus more vlans, etc).

      Thanks a lot!

You can setup LAGG on the SG-3100 switch with 2.4.4, but at the moment the only supported mode is Load Balance, not LACP, so the switch behavior may be trickier to lock down.

Thank you jimp. Could you clarify please your reply, which one is it (not native speaker here..):

          • we can do LB now and with 2.4.4 we will be able to do LACP
          • we can't do anything now but we will be able to do LB with 2.4.4

          Thanks a lot!

            • No LAGG on 2.4.3
            • Load Balance LAGG only on 2.4.4

Clear now. Can we expect LACP anytime soon? Is this something you are working on or are there hardware limitation which won't make it possible?

              Thanks a lot

I don't think the hardware supports LACP but I'm not 100% certain on that. If we find out otherwise, it will get support in pfSense eventually.

Thanks a lot jimp. Hopefully someone can comment on whether the Marvell 88E6141 switch supports LACP or not; for me that would be a stopper from getting the unit.

By the way, in the SG3100 manual we read:

"Warning: The LAN ports do not support the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). Two or more ports connected to another Layer 2 switch, or connected to 2 or more different interconnected switches, could create a flooding loop between the switches. This can cause the router to stop functioning until the loop is resolved."

Is STP required for LAGG-LB ? Does this mean that STP will be working as of 2.4.4?

Moreover, just to make sure I am not misunderstanding.. Should I be able to configure LB to a managed switch? to create a 3Gb (in case of 3 ports) channel between the router and the switch? So that, for instance, I will be able to send from the switch a 1gb to WAN and at the same time, send 1gb to OPT. ...maybe I was just confusing LB with LACP.

                  Thanks!

                    @jimp said in SG-3100 LAGG/LACP with Switch:

LAGG on the SG-3100 switch with 2.4.4, but at the moment the only supported mode is Load Balance, not LACP

This is quite a old Topic - is that still the case even with the latests 21.02?
