Not able to resolve most external websites.
-
I have been running PFsense for about 4 months without issue. Just yesterday, a problem presented where I can no longer browse to most external websites without a time out. Some sites will render but very slowly (like dial up slow with text rendering first and any multimedia much later). I automatically looked at DNS as the problem (although odd that all of a sudden DNS would act up in such a way without any config changes). I have, in general setup, my internal DNS server, googles dns, and opendns, two servers. I originally was allowing Forwarder to override these settings with the ISPs but I have since unchecked that box. On the dashboard loopdack is listed first followed by the DNS servers that were added in the general set up tab. I have done look ups using the drill command on some sites (netflix and apple) and tried to browse to those sites by IP without any luck. Im at a loss here. I can get to google and search things but no links will resolve. I can get to pfsense.org. All my internal DNS is working as it should.. What am I missing here? The ISP has checked the modem config and also updated its firmware without solving this issue. So frustrating! Im just looking for new paths to travel down in hops of a resolution. Any help is much appreciated.
PS: Sorry for the long winded first post

can you ping the sites in question that don't load? If they're ones that reply to pings at least. What does a traceroute look like to one of the affected sites?
