Tune an Atom D525 router for gigabit fiber?
-
Several years ago, we got our first real high-speed internet service, and I bought a Logic Supply fanless computer running pfSense to serve as a router/firewall. It's an Atom D525 system with two Intel gigabit ports on the motherboard. It's had a few glitches but served us well.
Today our ISP upgraded us to gigabit fiber. Plugged into their box, I get speed test results of roughly 930Mb/s both up and down. Plugged into our router, it's more like 600 down/825 up.
We have a fairly simple configuration. Is this the best I can expect from this box? Or is there any hope of tuning the pfSense configuration to squeeze out some more performance?
I'm not opposed to upgrading, but I'd like to see how far I can take what I have now.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

That is close to as good as you will likely get there. I have seen reports of D525s passing ~650Mbps. 825Mbps is better than I would have expected there.

About what I figured. Thanks for the excuse to buy a new box!
