      Hi all,

I am doing some rebranding on pfSense 2.2 and have managed to change the late-showing ascii-logo during boot (just before it has finished the boot). This was done by altering the file pfsense-logo-small.txt.

However, early in the boot, along with the initial menu there is some ascii-art saying "pfSense pf" or similar.

Where can this be changed - does anybody know?

      Thanks in advance.

I have nothing to do with pfSense development but i can tell you I am offended you would come here expecting the creators of this excellent product help you "rebrand" their work product. Maybe legal but not very ethical….

Please calm down… This is not offending - rebranding is both supported, described in the docs/wiki and widely done not only for pfSense, but also for many other open source projects.
As long as you keep to the licensing rules, keep the licensing info and most important credit the developers, this is perfectly normal and not an "offending" thing to do.
You should read up on this before you shout out so loud.. I have used this product for a long time and contributed with money to the project - you should know better than coming here "offending" others based on limited knowledge on how licensing works.

Considering all the "As long as you don't call it pfSense" talk, it would make sense to have a straightforward rebranding process.

I know nothing about the FreeBSD boot loader but it looks like the files you want are /boot/brand.4th and /boot/beastie.4th.  At least on 2.2 (FreeBSD 10.1).

I'd search on the FreeBSD boot loader for more info.  They're more than simple text files.
