      Unable to upgrade to 2.4 and also not about to add any packages.
      Web and console fail with dl .so issues with php.

      So the issue is not just after adding additional package, or third party h/w. This is stock SG-1000. Unable to factory reset, and will have to do fresh install via USB-OTG mechanism.

          The SG-1000 did not support 2.3, do you mean 2.4.3?

          What is the unit doing now? If you attach to the console, is it displaying errors? If so, what are they?

          It may be possible to repair it in-place by completing an upgrade to 2.4.4, but a reinstall may be easier for you. It all depends on the condition it's in now.

            @jimp Sorry yes, 2.4.3

            I had a spare unit, which I am not attempting to upgrade as its critical for some ongoing work.
            I will attempt to fix up the other unit today, and report back.

            Do you have a link/instructions on the mechanism to repair the upgrade to 2.4.4?

              It may be as simple as getting it connected and running pfSense-upgrade from the console shell manually.

              There are more suggestions here: https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/install/upgrade-troubleshooting.html
