      Hello,

We have successfully installed 2.2 version yesterday and after applying the old configuration backup we've noticed two problems:

      1. Checking for avail packages shows the error "Unable to communicate with http://packages.pfsense.org. Please verify DNS and interface configuration, and that pfSense has functional Internet connectivity",

However the "obtaining version status" tells "You are on the latest version" !?

      1. Because of the above I think there are no installed packages but as we restored the previous config file there appear the proxy & reverse proxy services which of course say "ERROR: No valid package defined" when chosen …

Everything else is running ok, there are no problems with connectivity or DNS resolution, both from the pfsense as from our  internal computers.

Your comments are very much appreciated.

I don't have a quick fix for your package issue, but for the upgrade I would have either saved a config with no package information and then imported that into a fresh install then built up the packages again, or I would have done the fresh install, installed (but not configured) all the packages and then did the import with a full config.xml.

Thank you KOM, that's what I thought … but after reinstalling.. I guess I should now factory reset, download / configure all the packages (if possible given the first error) and then applying the full config restore...

            Hello,

I've reinstalled all over again, but first using my old installation I made two backups, one with and one without packages. I've followed the instructions given here, I've restored only the no packages backup and now I don't have orphan package configurations.

But the main problem persists, "Unable to communicate with http://packages.pfsense.org. Please verify DNS and interface configuration, and that pfSense has functional Internet connectivity", so I cannot view or install any packages…

I have checked it out almost everything, from the console everything seems to work fine, dns resolves OK when pinging even to packages.pfsense.org  (attached img)

Thank you in advance for any advice or suggestions you may have...
