Second APU unit bricked after 2.4.4 upgrade - unable to load dynamic library
-
After my previous upgrade of a APU.1d unit that went wrong (because I installed a new package requiring PHP 7.2) I now did another upgrade of a similar APU unit. To prepare I uninstalled all packages and then tried upgrading 2.4.3_p1 to 2.4.4.
The result is not a bricked unit as previous week, but it boots up but doesn't start. Following logged over serial console.Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'session.so' (tried: /usr/local/lib/php/20131226/session.so (Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/php/20131226/session.so"), /usr/local/lib/php/20131226/session.so.so (Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/php/20131226/session.so.so")) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'bcmath.so' (tried: /usr/local/lib/php/20131226/bcmath.so (Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/php/20131226/bcmath.so"), /usr/local/lib/php/20131226/bcmath.so.so (Cannot open "/usr/local/lib/php/20131226/bcmath.so.so")) in Unknown on line 0
My question is now - is APU units no longer supported?
Also, from where can I download the image for APU units? Is this no longer possible? -
The APU is still supported, I have one running here. You can re-install using this image if required:

@matsan said in Second APU unit bricked after 2.4.4 upgrade - unable to load dynamic library:
I also see this.
I just tried to upgrade a Netgate SG-1000 from 2.4.3 to 2.4.4, and I also have a non functioning unit, with the same, pluss more errors as yours, ~70 lines of "Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library"

@klausade
I had to completely reinstall and restore the backup to get this solved. Seems like the pfsense update to 2.4.4 do things that break the installation :-( -
I'm prepared to to that myself also, however, I need to get the config.xml out of the device before I do that, and for the SG-1000 I can only find images without any "Rescue shell" and "Recover config.xml options", which you have in the normal installer.

Looks like you were able to get the config from single user mode:

@stephenw10 Yes. Jim came to the rescue. I should have tried the boot -s sooner, but I got "blind" looking for an image for the sg-1000 that looked more like the regular pfsense installer, Anyway, all ended well.

Cool. Thanks for following up.
