Netgate **XG-7100 1U** pfsense 4.4.4 - suddenly keels over.

Hi All,
Bit stuck on where too look on this one.
Suddenly today the firewall keeled over from what we could see. RDP servers ground to a halt, accessing the pf-sense dashboard ground to a halt. Our web server did the same.
I removed the LAN Cable and suddenly everything was ok, plugging it back and after a few minutes the issue returned.
We check the stats for Bandwidth , CPU and Memory and all seemed fine. We also have external SNMP monitoring (prtg) which said everything was fine also.
Interestingly been on the local lan was fine. Could access pfsense dash no problems and external pings were fine but accessing externally was a nightmare.
We put the old router back which had a older version of Pfsense 4.4.3 and it worked a treat.
Has anyone else had any issues with the latest firmware?
I have this set up in a lab with a internet connection but not really a load . Can anyone suggest what tests and any logs i should be looking at.

Anything in the logs at the time?
Is the WAN DHCP, perhaps? If so, check for this: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/8507#note-23
Any chance the WAN could be picking up a DHCP address from its upstream that conflicts with LAN? For example, some cable modems will hand out 192.168.100.x when they lose upstream sync, which would cause a conflict if LAN is 192.168.100.x.

Hi Mate.
Thanks for your response.
I don't think so , the wan is set up statically and supplied by a data centre. The connection will be coming from another firewall VLAN.
When we plugged the older pfsense in with the same config no issues were occurring.
Just trying to look through the logs using shell due to the fact they only show a certain time in the GUI.
Thanks
