Having issues trying to save the DUID
-
I did a new install of pfsense 2.4.4 (changed out hard disk to SSD). I saved the DUID from the prior install but I can't figure out how to save the old DUID into the new install.
What I tried, was System - Advanced - Networking - DHCP6 DUID:
I selected Raw DUID: …..
Then I pasted my old DUID into the RAW DUID field.
When I enter Save, It says at top the the changes have been applied, but now the DHCP6 DUID pull down switches to DUID-LLT: Based on Link-layer Address Plus time.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

When you give it a type and save, it normalizes the input into a standard format and that is what is used, and then it attempts to determine the DUID type by inspecting the format automatically when the page loads.
So if it selects a specific type for you, odds are that is the DUID format that you entered.
If your system is using the correct DUID and obtaining the expected addresses, there is no problem.

Problem is, every time I reboot I am getting a different prefix. I have given up trying to regain my old prefix. Would just like for it to be a stable address.
What would be the best process to tell it to forget the old DUID, gen a new one and stick with it?

Do you have "Do not allow PD/Address release": set on the WAN page?

I do have that checked.
I didn't state it before, but this is from a restore from backup, and this was a working configuration before I switched disk drive, which I just did a new install with the config.xml option to restore.

@jimp I never really looked at detail in the log, but I see this little bit, which has 2 DUID's

@isaacfl Is this normal? The first is what I thought the old one was, and then I see a 2nd.
