      Hello.
Today I installed Arpwatch. It sends me the ip addresses to my email. But there is also an error email between them. What is this?

      X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh>
      X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/etc:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin>
      X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/root>
      X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=root>
      X-Cron-Env: <USER=root>

Error: Unable to open database directory "/var/lib/vnstat": No such file or directory
The vnStat daemon should have created this directory when started.
Check that it is is configured and running. See also "man vnstatd".

When you install arpwatch it also installs a sendmail stub client that handles all mail from arpwatch and, by coincidence, anything that comes from cron or other things that use sendmail.

What you received is an error from the cron daemon saying there is a problem with that specific cron job. In this case, you must have the Traffic Totals package installed and it has an issue with its configuration or data.

If I install Traffic Totals package today, it will automatically fix this issue, right?

Or install the cron package and remove the cron entry referring to vnstat.

              I have this issue also.
I have a new pfsense and have installed Traffic Totals.
              I then installed arpwatch.
arpwatch is doing what it should, but I also get this exactly the same as below.
What do I need to do to resolve this (apart from uninstalling arpwatch which obviously works)

              X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh>
              X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/etc:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin>
              X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/root>
              X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=root>
              X-Cron-Env: <USER=root>

Error: Unable to open database directory "/var/lib/vnstat": No such file or directory
