Stuck on 2.3.4-RELEASE-p1 (i386)
-
Hi,
I recently noticed that I didn't get any new updates for a year now. According to the web GUI, I'm running the latest version but I noticed that inbetween there have been version 2.3.5 and 2.3.5-p1 released:
As an owner of a x86 device, I realize that I will never get 2.4.x. But I should be able to get the most recent 2.3 version, shouldn't I?
Thanks,
Alex -

Maybe the repository is removed?!-Rico

Hi Rico,
Many thanks for your quick reply. I followed the steps described in https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/install/upgrade-troubleshooting.html#upgrade-not-offered-library-errors but still no luck: I'm still running 2.3.4-p1:

Well the stable branch does no longer supports i386, switch to the legacy branch. But you really need a hardware upgrade, your firewall is no longer secure with EOL software.
-
I was as about to propose a "nearly as fast" solution : download pfSense and clean-install with config import.
But over there the 32 bits version has vanished ... True, October 2018 is in the past now.
-
There are still some 'half-official' ways to get 32bit Images, for example https://frafiles.pfsense.org/mirror/downloads/ ;-)

Thanks all for your replies, really appreciated!
I didn't realize that 2.3.x was totally dead (I thought that the 1 year grace period started now - but no, it ended in October 2018...). I won't spend time to try to install 2.3.5-p1 if anyway there will no further patches issued for it, and focus on getting a remplacement option.

Good/best choice.

Yes 2.3.5 can still be downloaded from the mirrors directly. It's just not advertised on the download page.
But it is end of life. There will not be any more security updates for it.

Thanks Steve for your confirmation that no security updates will be released for x86 hardware. I'm already looking for some 64-bit hardware to install PfSense on.
