What is my ISP using for IPV6?
-
Hello,
I am trying to set up IPV6 to replace ISP router.
In order to check how I should configure PFSENSE , could somebody look at the attached packet capture taken on my ISP box so I can replicate the configuration in PFSENSE ?https://1drv.ms/u/s!AopuLWyAFQBJlj-WoqLS8YZ6nmbO
Tnx,

You are trying to set up IPv6 in order to replace your ISP's default router? Doesn't make any sense to me.
The linked file requires username / password.
Can you please clarify. I don't think you could expect help otherwise. Not enough information given. -

Perhaps he's trying to bypass the modem router function, by placing it in bridge mode.

Hello Guys,
Sorry for the spaccy post :/
So I finally figured out that my ISP uses DHCPv6 on the WAN and gives me a /56 prefix.
PFsense then gives my lan a /64 via track interface WAN and these are handed out to machines on the LANWhat I was having a hard time figuring out is why does my WAN interface get no global IPV6 address ?

From a technical standpoint, it's not needed. A global IPv6 address on the WAN interface wouldn't be used for anything beyond testing (ping, etc.) or management. On IPv6, routing is normally done with the link local addresses. As for your ISP, you'll have to ask them if they provided an IPv6 address for the WAN interface.
