I'm looking to run pfSense off of a USB drive that is plugged into a pfSense 505-2 and from what I can see Nanobsd is no longer available. Is there a replacement for this or a way to just install the regular version to a USB drive? This is going to be used for troubleshooting a possible hardware issue so not worried about configurations or long term use/wear to USB drive. Thanks.

If long term drive issues are not a concern then just install to the USB drive as you would any other drive.

To prevent excessive wear though you can remove the SWAP slice during the install and then move /var and /tmp to RAM drives from System > Advanced > Misc after first boot.

Thanks. Is this the link I would be looking for when installing it to a USB drive? Just want to make sure I'm installing it to the media vs making an installer.

You will have to write the image to make an installer and then use that to install to a second USB drive.
There's no longer any way to write a running install directly.
