      Hello everyone,

thank you for taking a look a this thread! I've created this one, because I'd like to ask for a helping hand in regards to using pfSense as a Slave with NUT. While pfSense is able to fetch the status data from the NUT master, it's not sucessful in shutting down, when the master commands it. The System Logs show these two lines whenever the Master instructs pfSense to shutdown: "Parent died - shutdown impossible", "upsmon parent process died - shutdown impossible"

After a bit of research I discovered that when I edit the file "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/nut.sh" and append a "-p" to the line "/usr/local/sbin/upsmon" an restart upsmon it works like a charm. This basically boils down to some sort of permission problem, as the "-p" command line argument makes upsmon run in privileged mode. So far so good, now comes the question: How can I fix that permission problem? Or if it's not really easy / possible to fix it without investing a lot of time in debugging ... how could I apply my changes to "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/nut.sh" permanently?

      Thanks and best regards
