Static Route Gateway Down for pfSense but working for devices under pfSense

Hi

I have a static route that goes from pfsense to my other router and every 20 minutes for 20 minutes it shows as down and pfsense cant ping or use that route but during that whole time my devices connected to pfsense can use that route to get to networks on the other router.
Does anyone know what is causing this and what I need to do to fix this
