Memory buffer pre and post upgrade to 2.4.4-p1:

After upgrading to 2.4.4-p1 from 2.4.4 the memory buffer has increased by 270MB. The upgrade was performed at around 15:00 and as you can see the memory buffer is now using 322MB out of 4GB whereas prior to the upgrade the memory buffer was 52MB.

      Same information from TOP:

      Mem: 75M Active, 229M Inact, 590M Wired, 322M Buf, 2894M Free

Why the change in buffered memory between 2.4.4-p1 and 2.4.4? What is the advantage?

I'm aware of anything specifically that changed that would cause that but it could be any number of things. You might check the ps -aux output for a single process using that.
