@esm said in I cant find the snort on Available packages:

And I see other packages ,

        0_1544612020371_029f92e0-d439-48ad-bae7-26a47b671b34-image.png

The slider on the right side gives you access to the other packages.
You could also hit Ctrl-F and enter snort + enter to find it.

Did you maybe install the package by hand/offline somehow?

From an ssh or console shell prompt, what do these commands show?

              pkg info -x snort

              pkg search snort

              pkg -vv

                      Like the other commands :
Use the console access, option 8 and type your command.
When done, select the output and paste it here.
Selecting the output is not a screen shot, but use your mouse and select the text, and then Ctrl-C (Copie).
                      Do a paste here. Ctrl-V

Very ancient, last century commands, actually ^^

Btw : use the SSH console access, and a program ssh client called Putty. Nearly every admin (of something, could even your coffee machine) on planet earth uses Putty.

Based on the pkg info -x snort output, it is already installed.

Remove it with pkg delete pfSense-pkg-snort snort and then it should show up to install again.

                              Good !
But @jimp solved it for you already - packages are not listed on the package page when they are already installed.
Something went wrong when installing : at least the GUI part is missing (and maybe more).

Remove all packages that are missing in the GUI, but are present on your system. They will show up after that on the "packages to install" list.

Test - install a small package like "Notes" - look carefully at the install logs. Something odd ? Did the package install well => Can you see - access it under Status => Notes ?

Edit : and where are the logs ??
