I’m attempting to configure my firewall to redirect all DNS queries to pfsense using these instructions. There is one section that I really don’t understand though-

Before adding this rule, ensure the DNS Forwarder or DNS Resovler is configured to bind and answer queries on Localhost, or All interfaces.

How do I ensure that unbound is configured to bind? Tried googling this but just got a bunch of links to unbound vs bind discussions, which suggests they are seperate services.

What interfaces do you have unbound set to listen on? If its on the default all, then it is listening on loopback (127.0.0.1) and there is nothing for you need to do.

if you have edited your unbound listen interfaces - then you need to make sure its listening on localhost.

Bind is just a term to mean what address a service runs on.. Or uses..
