I have a pfsense setup on a 8 year old dell optiplex with a quad core processor and 8 gig of ram. It has an intel gig nic builtin to the mother board and another gig nic in pci-e slot. I have a gigabit internet connection. On my cisco router i was getting download speeds of 960mbps. With my PFSense setup i cant get over 700mbps and i'm not sure where the bottleneck is. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for reading this.

How exactly were you measure that?
        https://www.cablefree.net/wireless-technology/maximum-throughput-gigabit-ethernet/
The default Gigabit Ethernet without Jumbo Frames of around 928Mbps (116MB/s).

You might see 940ish with some testing of say iperf, etc. 960 a bit over the top to be honest through a router.

How exactly are you testing this - across the internet, to something on the wan directly?

@johnpoz FYI maybe it's just me, but that link originally landed me on what appeared to be fake Chrome update page saying your version of Chrome is out of date with a link to a file. I don't think it could have been legit since the url read as you have it posted. Subsequent clicks on the link took me to the correct page though.

I would look to your system for issues my friend... I never hide urls - and just post them direct as they are..

edit: Possible compromised ad on their site, I wouldn't know I don't see ads (since I block them) <grin>

Indeed it looks like it was just me. Found a virus that could have been redirecting me. Sorry, didn't mean to redirect the thread.

No problem - great that you mention such an issue for sure. Now back to our original programming ;)

Can you put in some details of how your doing the speed testing - and maybe now you should retest since its not impossible that the virus/whatever was eating up some cycles/bandwidth

edit: Seems I confused you with the OP hehehe... Thanks for the PM to mention that.. So we are still waiting for the details of the OP and how they did their testing.

@Raffi_ so what are you running pfsense on and are you seeing your full bandwidth.. Is it gig? ;)
