I received a free GPA-250, is this device still a viable firewall appliance? Has anyone successfully installed pfSense on it ??? Can anyone point to a good starting point for images ?

      What CPU is in it?

Edit: Looks like it might be Celeron-M in which case it's 32 bit only and no current images will install. pfSense 2.4.X is 64bit only.
You might look at using OpenWRT if you're not ready to recycle it just yet.

@stephenw10 thanks for the info. Ya know I was just trying to see if it's useable because it is 10/100/1000 and has good throughput on OpenVPN client .. it was free so no money lost

If I do but new ...
I'm Looking at something that would be able to grow from my 400/25 (down/up) with me. I currently have MikroTik RB2011 and CRS109 ... Ubnt ERL.. UNIFI AC APs (pro and some mesh) ..

Any recommendations on your experience with new netgate gear would be appreciated

I would want one of the C3000 based units to get max OpenVPN throughput. So either the SG-5100 or XG-7100.

The SG-3100 will pass close to 1Gbps firewall and NAT so you have room for growth but you won't get much over 100Mbps through OpenVPN. It will do >300Mbps IPSec though.

Did you verify the GPA-250 is a Celeron-M?

I have not cracked it open yet. And I just go it in my possession.

After I open it up I'll see what I can find inside.

Looking around the net I wasn't able to find anything as far as the CPU that was in the unit

Only thing I found was this:

But they may have updated it and kept the numbering.
