2.2 upgrade vs new start

Ive been fighting with my firebox x750c since i went from a fully working 215 to 2.2 not being able to get lcd and hdd to work as i wanted seemed to be the tricky issues i have it booting from hdd with no cf card installed and i also have fitted vga and usb ports to the back of the case so I was wondering if the wise among you could recommend if i should try to upgrade or start from fresh I want to use the lcd proc and squid for caching on the hdd. Has some of the lcd issues been fixed yet as i read there are some firebox fixes in 2.2.1

Ps I feel like starting from scratch this build has been dragged back and forth all over, but your input is welcome as I'm no expert
