I enabled ssh access to my pfsense and tried to ssh to it and typed the wrong admin password a few times and ssh guard blocked my ip.
What I didn't expect though was that my pre-existing ssh sessions through pfsense to remote hosts were also disconnected.
Can that be changed so when ssh to the pfsense host needs to be blocked other ssh sessions through pfsense don't get dropped?

Not easily. It's your host IP that gets blocked so anything sourced from that will be blocked.

You can whitelist your own IP to prevent that, if it's a static IP.

@stephenw10 Are you referring to this whitelisting?

Yes, it was added in the change set referenced there.
