SG-1100 and ASUS RT-AC68U

Which is the best way to connect the SG-1100 to the RT-AC68U. I have some experience installing software on routers but this is my first NGFW. Need the SG-1100 to be the primary router.

Normally you want pfSense to totally replace your AC Router.
Maybe you continue to run it in your LAN side as access point, depending on your requirements.-Rico

But it will not replace WiFi. I want to be able to use AC router for WIFI. So you mean hooking SG-1100 to RT-AC68U thru the LAN? Access point or bridge?

You connect the AC68U in AP mode to SG-1100 LAN.

Looking at something similar, but thinking Asus router may be overkill, & so need something else...?
[Cable modem] --- > SG-1100 at the moment
Looking at [cable modem] --> Asus router --> SG-1100

@a-1 In the past I've had a RT-N66U set to AP mode, and connected to a SG-1100 and it worked fine. The WAN port of the ASUS router gets connected to any port on your LAN. The ASUS router will get an IP from pfsense LAN so you can still manage it via the web interface. When in AP mode, DHCP requests from wireless clients get forwarded out onto the router's WAN port (and thus to pfsense).

So, I gather what I need is this as a set up:
[cable modem] -> SG-11000 -> Asus as AP
Was your set up like that too?

@a-1 Yes sir it did, now I have two WIFIs one for lan and one for OPT. OPT is for IOT and such.

@a-1 yes. I had the SG-1100 WAN, set to use DHCP, connected to the cable modem. The WAN port on the SG-1100 gets a public IP from the cable modem. I had the LAN port on the SG-1100 connected to a small 8-port switch and the ASUS router, set to AP mode, was connected to one of the ports of the switch.
