Support for Intel 82575EB nic
-
Hi,
I just booted up 1.2 and i get No Interfaces found.
It seems there is not a driver for this NIC in pfsense.How would i add support for this NIC?

I downloaded the right source driver from the intel website.
When i install pfsense 1.2 developers edition and try to "make" the module, i receive the following error:
/usr/share/mk/bsd.kmod.mk line 12 cant find kernel source tree.Not sure what to try next…

Refer to the FreeBSD handbook on how to cvsup and build the kernel.
-
Can someone compile the module for me? Or perhaps the kernel?
I'm eager to learn but it looks difficult to do. -
Attached - compiled on a generic FreeBSD 6.2 (i386) host but should work fine. Rename to if_em.ko.bz2, copy it to /boot/kernel/ and add the following to /boot/loader.conf:
if_em_load="YES"
You can either reboot, or simply type kldload if_em

@Cry:

Will that work considering em was already compiled statically into the kernel?

Now there's a question, I'm pretty certain it won't. I suspect that the kernel would have to be rebuilt with the FreeBSD if_em as a module and then this put in place to replace it.

I receive a "can not load kernel".
Is there a modified kernel available as a download? -
Not unless somebody makes one. You're probably best off following sullrich's advice and learning to build your own at this point in time.

Can i use this to build: http://devwiki.pfsense.org/BuildingpFSense and in which step do i add the driver?
