Interesting performance results between 2 Hyper-V pfsense point to point IPSEC
-
OVH says connections between OVH servers is limited to 500Mbit so I decided to test actual throughput as I have yet to see any performance results using pfSense on Hyper-V with point to point tunnels. I was expecting much better results since I was using Server hardware with high bandwidth capabilities…. :-\
Here are the results.
Server 1 is an AMD -4334 6c/6t 3,1 GHz+/3,5 GHz+ (Aes-ni enabled)
Server 2 is an Intel Xeon E5-1620v24c/8t 3,7 GHz+/3,9 GHz+
Tests were run back and forth between the servers.
Blowfish had similar results going back and forth but there was a difference when using AES between them. Copying from the Intel to AMD with AES had better results that copying from AMD to Intel with AES.
Update: used Ike v2 and used SHA1 on P2

It really depends on how you do the tests here.
