i found this video he was saying allot cheap used computer no one want to buy can be use at least to push one full gig speed for a very low price.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ledv33t6SNE&t=911s

not sure are pawnshops desktop good enough for gig speed or do I buy them online and are amazon or ebay prebuild office pc good enough?

Can I get full gig speed with new intel gen 8 or 9 cpu i3 or i5 and is there differences using normal ssd vs a m.2 drive?

      i

Already answered in your other thread.

Yes, any Gen 8 i3 will push 1Gbps through firewall/NAT. No, there is no significant difference for pfSense between SATA SSD and m.2. It doesn't support NVMe though.

You can probably use this one: https://store.netgate.com/AOC-SGP-I4.aspx 😉

How many ports do you need? What is your budget?

Ideally you set your modem/router to modem or bridge mode and that passes the public to the pfSense WAN port.
Everything else is connected to the pfSense interface or to switches on those.

I don't know because I've never tested that but I would expect it to pass 1Gbps quite easily with firewall and NAT. If you start adding other packages or VPNs it's harder to say.
