System log seems to be crashing. I reset it after reading bug posted here https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/4393 although it's four years old and immediately got this:

Jul 7 10:57:08 syslogd kernel boot file is /boot/kernel/kernel
      Jul 7 15:57:10 check_reload_status Syncing firewall
Jul 7 10:57:10 syslogd exiting on signal 15
Jul 7 10:57:10 syslogd kernel boot file is /boot/kernel/kernel

Is this bug back? My pfsense digital is a 2011 Mac Mini server with 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 (amd64).

It looks like it stops and restarts from that log extract. It the service not running for you after that?

Well, it stops and started another time after that after rebooting.

As long as it restarts then that's not that bug.

Cool Stephen; however, curious as to what's causing the signal 15!

Mmm, I can't answer that without more research but it logs like that on every firewall I see. So whilst it may be a bit ugly it's nothing to worry about.
