Logging Query with transparent proxy enabled
-
Hi I'm trialling pfsense as a proxy for our small organisation. I'm wondering why I see so many deny entries for port 443 TCP:Syn requests? I would expect that with transparent proxy enabled all requests for port 443 would be re-routed to the proxy.

Where are you seeing these? Much more information required to even begin to help you.

Im seeing this in the firewall logs. The default deny rule is triggering it. I don't have any allow rules from my lan for 443 or 80 as I expect it all to be handled by the proxy. I don't have proxy configured on my lan machines as I have enabled transparent mode.

WAN or LAN firewall log?

LAN

I can't recall seeing that before, but then I run in explicit mode with WPAD because it's far more flexible than transparent mode. Is it causing any real problems browsing or is it a logspam issue? What do your LAN rules look like? Post a screenshot.

We would need to see some examples of the logged traffic to comment further.
I would expect incoming TCP SYN packet to port 443 to be passed and redirected to Squid as you say.
