SG-3100 - normal running temperatures?

Wondering what temps we should expect with an SG-3100 in IPSEC config. A remote users is ranging between 67-70c pretty consistently.

I have seen over 75c with out issues. The SG-3100 can run hot, but it does not impact performance.

Yup that's in the expected range for, say, 20-25C ambient.

Is there a safe ceiling for SG-3100 CPU temperature? We are seeing 79-84 C during hottest part of the day with an an ambient temperature of 28 C.

That's pretty warm. You might want to look at getting some air movement over the device to keep it a bit cooler, or if it's in a case open the door to let the air move around.

Thanks, gonna try and get a fan on it to see if it makes a difference with airflow across the box. It's currently on the bottom shelf in a wall mounted 1/4 rack. There's maybe 3-4U before the switch mounted above it but probably not much if any airflow in that corner.
None of our other boxes are running much past 70 in similar ambient temperatures so we're watching this one a bit closely.

I've got this USB powered double-fan kit cooling my Netgate SG-2440:

One sits under the case, the other sits atop the case, both blowing upward. My current running temp is 78F. I know, I know... totally different boxes. But, maybe it will give you an idea of what can be done to cool your box.

@akuma1x Those fans look like it'd be a good alternative if I needed additional cooling.
Another vendor put in a store music system and slid their amplifier in under our SG-3100. Effectively putting us on a hot plate.
We've moved the router to another shelf and temps are now what we're used to seeing on our other boxes. Around 65-69 C. Thanks everyone for info and suggestions.
