Size of logs not correct
-
Hi guys!
The size of my log files is set to default.
If i use the
WebGUI -> Status -> System logs
and set the log size to 500 MB under the settings, the logfiles are almost 500 MB in size. How can it be that the files grow from 500 KB to 500 MB at once? Also, if I clean the logs via "clear log", for example, the system.log file is just under 500 MB in size. With
wc -l system.log
i also see that the log file is only 2 lines tall. How exactly does that happen?

@Sessa45 build-in syslog is provision all space for all system logs. They not rotated. If you want you can install syslog-ng and configure receive of all logs or push all logs to remote syslog in LAN

Sorry but i do not understand this prinzip.
Every log has the same size. So far so good. But why has for example the systen.log file a size of about 500 MB Even though it contains only two lines? :)

This is how syslog works on freebsd. As i said: enable checkbox: send all log to remote server and install syslog-ng and configure it like you like.
I used this log haproxy logs, and all is good -
