via the wan port...and i have no internet.

i tried the lan port too...the connection was recognised but no internet still, coz the router kept saying plug in the network cable

Switch off DHCP on the Asus and connect the pfSense LAN port to the LAN port on the Asus.

Does your PC work if you connect it directly to the pfSense LAN port ?

How have you connected the Asus wireless router via the WAN or LAN port ?

Does your PC work if you connect it directly to the pfSense LAN port ?

the pc is connected to the router then to the pc not to the pfsense....

i can connect to the pfsense from my pc 192.168.50.25

i cant connect on 192.168.1.1 as my router has the same ip address

and when i try to input the ip address it brings up the asus webpage

I'm trying to establish here if the pfSense router is working or not, does it have a valid IP address on the WAN interface?

Change the IP address of the Asus to 192.168.1.2 if pfSense is using 192.168.1.1.

IPv4 address 192.168.1.2/24 is being used by or overlaps with: LAN (192.168.1.1/24)

it wont let me change it..

                  am i doing something wrong

                    • Disconnect the Asus from pfSense

                    • Connect to the Asus via the LAN port

                    • Change the Asus IP to 192.168.1.2/24

                    • Switch off DHCP server on the Asus

                    • Connect the Asus LAN port to the pfSense LAN port

If you can't change the Asus try asking the question on the Asus forums, this isn't a pfSense problem.

Other people here have successfully connected using a home router to provide wi-fi.

I suggest you ask the question on the Asus forum as you've stated if you connect directly into your pfSense LAN port everything works, this isn't a pfSense issue.

This is a pfSense forum. No, people don't know the config details of your random routers. Use Google for that. Use a real access point if you can (they aren't expensive for even good ones), but if you must use a wifi router as a AP:

                            • disable WAN
                            • disable DHCP Server
                            • plug LAN port into pfSense LAN

Now it acts like a bridge to LAN.

i do realise this is a pfsense forum

which is what i am using..

if i connect my pc directly to the pfsense..everything works fine..

when i connect the router..things mess up..

i thought it would be pretty straight forward to set it up but it seems this is not the case

I’m coming in late to the conversation, sorry. I would bet that Asus router has an “access point” mode that does all of these steps for you. There might even be instructions in the interface after you login, or online somewhere.

                                Here you go:
                                https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/ROG-Rapture-GT-AX11000/HelpDesk_Manual/

In the english version, it's on page 59.

After that, all of your setup should just work.

Did you do the things that you've been told to do by me and others? Did you disable the ASUS WAN port and ensure it's unplugged? Did you disable the ASUS DHCP server? Did you plug one of the ASUS LAN ports into your pfSense LAN?

Describe what you've done and what happened. Just complaining "It doesn't work" won't help us help you to get it resolved. Don't be shy on giving details.

That's your problem. You want pfSense giving out addresses for its network, not your ASUS giving out who knows what address, mask & gateway.

Oops, I take that page back, sorry. The settings for access point mode look to be on page 111, under operation mode.

Read the setup instructions, and maybe look online to find more instructions. They've got to be there.
