Two SG-1100; one stable, one not
-
We have two SG-1100s, installed June 2019. They are configured to provide an encrypted Ethernet over OpenVPN bridge between office areas in two different parts of the building. (The connecting cable passes through areas not under our control.) Both have this Version info:
2.4.4-RELEASE-p2 (arm64)
built on Wed Dec 12 14:40:29 EST 2018
FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-p6The OpenVPN client system is stable, it has currently been up for more than 13 days. The OpenVPN server system is not stable; for example, it has restarted 5 times in the last 2.5 hours. These system restarts interrupt network access from the client end to the rest of the corporate network. When both systems are up, the bridge works well.
I have looked in the system.log and openvpn.log files just prior to the restarts -- nothing. Suggestions on how to track this problem down?
Thanks.

Patch up to p3. Don't waste time chasing problems on older software. After that, check the System logs and OpenVPN logs. You might have to increase the verbosity of the OpenVPN log to get more than the basic detail that's enabled by default.

Even on an older version it should not just restart for no reason. If there is nothing logged there to indicate a reason you should open a ticket with us here:
