      Greetings
I'm running pfsense on an i7 box with 16GB RAM & 512 nvme which is lots of horsepower. The systems is utilizing less than 2% overall. I wonder if there is a Package to run SMB Server & client along with a download Manager on the same pfsense BOX since I'm a heavy down loader.

      Regards

Yeah its called a Hypervisor, and then run your pfsense as a VM, and then run whatever else you want to run on that box as another VM ;)

Everything you add is a potential attack vector. As @johnpoz suggested, instead of using that hardware for just pfSense, slap on ESXi or whatever hypervisor you prefer and then create a VM for pfSense and another for your various other roles.

thanks for the reply, I understand the risk factor & i know about Hypervisor but a package will be easier & less overhead

Well, there aren't any from the official repo. You might be able to hack something together from FreeBSD ports but I would advise against it.

This question has been asked over and over and over again.. No pfsense is not going to run samba on it.. If you want do everything sort of firewall/router distro.. Run maybe clearos or something like it.
