I have a pfsense (2.4.4-p3) setup and it has been working flawlessly. I came into the office today and I can no longer resolve DNS. I have (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) setup as my DNS on the pfsense. If I change the DNS on my network adapter to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 I can resolve websites.

check under Status / Services if unbound / dns forwarder is running
check Status / System logs / DNS resolver

Sep 10 08:21:06 unbound 55775:8 notice: sendto failed: Permission denied

Something is blocking it. Are you running IDS/IPS?
