Help using DNS forwarder
-
Hello everyone,
I am trying to use the DNS Forwarder in the services tab of pfsense.
I used this guide to try to set it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcaHwlm6ECU
However, I do not get the same results as the video. I cannot seem to get facebook's website to direct to another ip.In host I have www
Domain I have facebook.com
Ip address I have 192.168.1.1 and have also tried a bogus ip like 127.0.0.1.Please advise or let me know if you need anymore information.
Thank you! -
Is your test client using pfSense as its DNS?

I believe so. Is there a way I can check for sure?

Is there a way I can check for sure?
By checking its network settings. Ar we talking about a Windows box, Linux box, random device?

Well then, considering you're configuring a routing firewall, I would hope you know how to check Windows network settings:
Press WinKey+X - Command Prompt. Type ipconfig /all and press Enter. Scroll down until you find your Ethernet adapter in the list, and then read on for its DNS settings.

Why would you try and use a video from 2012 using pfsense 2.0.1?? what version of pfsense did you install? Current is 2.2.4
pfsense doesn't even currently use a forwarder (dnsmasq) it uses resolver unbound out of the box.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to block "situs" whatever that is suppose to be - user can not even type sites correctly when posting video to youtube - and your going to follow that?? WTF??
