I have two wifi cards (ar5213a) and two alix boards.  I have tried mixing and matching cards and alix boards and am constantly hitting the same wall.  The card always shows up and allows me to tie it to a an adapter however I can not get it out of the 'down' state when I go to dashboard and take a look at the adapter (I have enabled the adapter).  This adapter used to work with older versions of pfsense.  I feel like I am missing something very basic and any help would be much appreciated!  Thank you!

Have you configured the wifi setup for the cards? You will need to start them in access point mode or in infrastructure mode and associated to appear as up.

Could you elaborate on what that entails?  I have enabled ath0 in BSS (infrastructure) mode and tied it to an adapter as well as enabled it if that's what you are referring to.  However it still shows up as down.  This card was working in pfsense 2.0 Beta and stopped working once I upgraded.

Sorry for the delay. Yes, that's what I was referring to. Odd I havne't seen that then. I'm not aware of any regressions in the ath driver though 2.0 is really quite old now! It might be worth trying 2.1.5 if you can.
