      Current board is:
      PC Engines APU2
      AMD GX-412TC SOC
      4 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 4 core(s)
      AES-NI CPU Crypto: Yes (active)

Any benefits in going with an SG-1100? Might be getting FTTP 300/30 at some stage. Might that affect the decision?

      Thanks

That APU2 board should be ok for that "future" 300/30 fiber internet connection.

My understanding on the APU2 systems is that, until you throw OpenVPN or other encrypted connections at it, it does fine. Enable those, where it really needs a fast-ish processor, and it starts to limp along. It's only got a 1GHz quad-core Jaguar processor in it. Are you running anything like this on that board now, or plan to in the future?

Here's a reddit thread about it, from a year ago:

I've got a few site to site IPSec VPN's set up into my client's LANs, and might like to play with the inspection side of pfsense as an education.

I'm pretty sure the apu2's cpu has aes-ni offload. That should be fine for quite a few years, even when using encryption. eg openvpn/ipsec vpns.

Ive run both with similar perfromance experiences.
I prefer to run ZFS for reliability, and you'll have to stick to the PC Engines for that

              11 cheers for binary
