Boot usb pen, without BIOS support
-
Hi I'm pretty new to BSD and pfsense.
I want to use and old computer as my router/firewall with 3 network cards.
First i ran pfsense as a live cd and I liked it very much so i decided to install it, but since I don't have Hard Drive nor Floopy Disk in that machine I decided to use an USB pen drive (1GB) as the storage device.
I succesfully installed pfsense in the pen drive from the CD.
The problem is that the computer's BIOS is pretty old and has not USB boot support :(So my cuestion is: can I use the pfsense CD, to boot the one in the USB??

Yes.
Just boot off the CD and the USB-stick will be used to read/write the config.Take a look at the m0n0wall documentation since this applies to pfSense too.

Format the stick and only use it to store the config booting from the livecd. This is option 98, not 99.
