Jep, and the waiting graph will very much become worse than now:

        https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/ipv4/ipv4-waiting-list

Also this is why we can't have nice things...:

        http://ipv4marketgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/ipv4-market-group-pricing-trend-over-time-3-2019.png

Those "market group analyzers" are crying rivers about how to stop IPv6 (or dumb it down) so they can cash in on the rising price of IPv4 addresses. It's insane...

Don't forget to upvote πŸ‘ those who kindly offered their time and brainpower to help you!

If you're interested, I'm available to discuss details of German-speaking paid support (for companies) if needed.

Yep, companies are not terribly incentivized to implement a solution with tons of available space when scarcity == πŸ’° πŸ’° πŸ’° πŸ’° πŸ’°

@yon-0 Where do you think you could get free IPv4? You might get some space with a line you pay for, or with a host you pay for, etc.. But you can not get IPv4 for free.. Cost of having IPv4 with Arin for example is expensive - /16 from Arin for example is $4500 a year... I can show you the invoices ;)

And yes the gray market of selling space can be quite lucrative.

Thousands of "guys" have some non used IPv4. These are most of all companies. Now check out this one : even Chinese based companies do have some 'capitalistic' mentalities when it comes down to selling 'rare' items. rule out 'cheap' here.
                      It's rare == It's expensive.

IPv4 comes over per block of /16 at least.
Re check http://ipv4marketgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/ipv4-market-group-pricing-trend-over-time-3-2019.png fire up "calculator".
Do the multiply and be ready to see some big number.

I'm not talking about the "free" 16 'or so' IPv4 you get when you hire a xx $ / month dedicated server. These have been reserved by our big host companies already years ago.

                      good and cheap

At least, that rules out Amazon.

Edit : and where are the logs ??

Also "having some IP4legacy addresses" don't equal "they are simply routable". We also have "some" IPv4 to spare, yes. But those are for ramping up, opening additional datacenters etc etc. and belong to us and can't simply be routed/BGP'ed to someone else. Just owning spare IPs doesn't mean you can easily get your hands on them or even route them to you.

IP6 shouldn't be a big problem, everyone handing those out (RIPE, ARIN etc.) is pretty generous with their prefix range to bring IPv6 to a broader audience. So don't understand the problem here with "free v6 space".

Who? Nobody has free IPv4 space... If the space is delegated to them from their RIR they would have to pay, if they are not and the RIR is not collecting that is on them. I would expect a RIR that does not receive payment for IP space assigned would take the IPs back and give to someone willing to pay the fees.

If some other owning entity delegated part of the space to another AS, those IPs are still being paid for by the parent... There is not FREE ipv4 space.. Someone is paying for it..

Good luck finding someone to let you use IPv4 space and not charge you for it - when your not using their services that you pay for.

here is the listing to afrinic fee sechedule
                          https://afrinic.net/membership/cost#resource

For a /22 its like $1400 a year.. And goes up from there.. All of them have some min fee for min amount of space, etc... They do not give them away..

Yeah good luck finding someone to delegate you space for FREE when your not doing business with them... We have some current space delegated to our "customers" ie they are paying for services. We don't specifically charge them for the IPs... But they are paying ;)

If you want someone to give you IPs just for free, yeah good luck with that... Ipv6 is easy - HE will give you a /48 out of their space to use for "free"...
